Avis Guatemala Rental Terms for travel between 17-May-2018 and 26-Sep-2019

Additional Drivers
All drivers must meet the same minimum age and driver’s license requirements as the renter.  Any additional driver must be present at the time of rental to sign the additional driver’s form.
The additional driver fee is USD 10.00 per day for each additional driver.  

Prepayment
Cash Rentals:  are not allowed for rental or payment.
Travel Vouchers:  The amount of the rental must be paid at the beginning of the rental.  A valid prepaid voucher should be presented at the counter at pick-up.  A credit card must be presented to cover charges not included in the prepaid voucher.  All additional charges not included in the voucher will be charged to the credit card once the vehicle is returned.  

Waiver and Protection Options

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) optional, if declined ALI is mandatory
Purchase of CDW relieves the customer’s financial responsibility for damages to the Avis vehicle in case of accident or theft, provided the customer complies with all terms and conditions of the rental agreement.  Theft protection is included with a non-waivable excess of 20% of the value of the vehicle rented.  CDW does not cover damage to windscreens or tires.  An official report issued by the police must be shown in order to apply for this coverage.  
If CDW is declined, ALI is mandatory and the customer may be responsible for up to the full value of the vehicle.  
Other coverages may be available at the counter, check upon arrival for information.

Damage to people and their property
Third Party Liability coverage of up to 100,000.00 QUE  in case of bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party (excludes renter and/or driver of the Avis vehicle) is included in the rates with a deductible of 700.00 USD.  The customer may be fully waived of this deductible with the purchase CDW. 

Additional Liability Insurance (ALI) - is mandatory if CDW is declined.  
Purchase extends the protections for third party liability in case of bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party (excluding the renter and/or driver of the Avis vehicle), up to a maximum of 10,000.00 USD.  An official report issued by the police must be shown in order to apply for this coverage.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
PAI provides coverage for medical charges incurred by the driver and all the persons inside the Avis car in case of accidental death up to a maximum of 5,000.00 QUE per person or 25,000.00 QUE per occurrence.

Other coverages may be available at the counter, check upon arrival.

Fuel Charges
A full tank of gas is provided at the time of rental and the vehicle should be returned with a full tank of gas to avoid additional charges.  

Delivery and Collection
Delivery and collection are available free of charge within Guatemala City only.

No-Show/Cancellation Policy
Reservations for all car groups will be honoured up to 8 hours after the reserved time or until closing, whichever comes first.  A No-Show Fee does not apply.

One Way Rentals 
One way rentals are subject to request and availability.  In addition to one-way fees, Border Crossing Permits will apply for all countries that allow cross-border travel.

Special Equipment
All costs for special equipment are subject to taxes and surcharges.  

Child Safety Seat – are available, the cost is USD 5.00 per day and USD 150.00 if lost or stolen. Please provide age and weight of the child.  An advance reservation of 24 hours is recommended.

Navigation System – is available, the cost is 13.00 USD per day and 150.00 USD if lost or stolen. An advance reservation of 24 hours is recommended.

Wifi  – is available, the cost is USD 10.00 per day and USD 90.00 if lost or stolen.  An advance reservation of 24 hours is recommended.

Other equipment may be available at the counter, check with reservations or upon arrival for additional details.

When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier's rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.

While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.

Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.

Booking information
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice.

If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.

Information disclosure
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.

Vehicle capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.

Refund Policy
In the event of cancellation, any deposit amounts paid at the time of booking are non-refundable. 

Disputes
If you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
